The Samsung S5 Mini was released as a smaller and more budget range version of the already successful Samsung Galaxy S5. Other than the 0.6in difference in physical size, the Mini version was aesthetically identical to its big brother. However, it did offer some alterations. The technology giants did away with the protective flap that covers the microUSB port on the S5. Although the protective flap was gone, the Mini did manage to retain its IP67 rating, meaning it was still resistant to water and dust

Although the Samsung Galaxy S5 came with a more up-to-date and powerful Qualcomm processor, this was swapped out in the S5 Mini and replaced with Samsung's own brand old 1.4GHz quad-core chip, which was borrowed from the S4. The battery on S5 Mini was also slightly different, using a less powerful 2100mAh battery, compared to 2800mAh found in the Galaxy S5. It wasn't all doom and gloom though as the S5 Mini was still capable of lasting a day with moderate use. Another advantage to the S5 Mini was its ability to replace the battery if it ever became flat.
